Though I have various outlets to express my creativity, photography is the closest to my heart. My greatest inspiration comes from nature. I am moved by beauty. When I am in the midst of nature, I feel as if I am being given a magnificent gift. The camera allows me to share that gift, that moment of splendor, whether it is dew on a leaf, the sensuous curve of a flower, a reflection in the water, a barren tree in the mist, or even a glimpse into the eyes of a person. The transience of life is compelling, and I like to capture and share those brief ephemeral moments. Dostoevsky wrote, "Beauty will save the world." I would like to believe that someday that will be true.
I have paired many of my photos with a haiku. Haiku appeals to me for the same reason as photography. It expresses the transience of time reminding us to appreciate the present moment.
